U-Wing Simulation Supports Helicopter Pilot Skills Competition, Draws New Blueprint for Low Altitude Economy

On 15-16 June 2024, the first Helicopter Pilots Skills Competition for the East China Region of the China Airline Pilots Association was successfully held in Suzhou. This competition focused on enhancing pilot skills, aimed at fostering communication and cooperation among pilots, government, entrepreneurs, and various sectors related to the low-altitude economy, thereby building a platform for collaborative development.

During the competition, not only was the "Safe Aviation" safety service platform of the CAAC East China Regional Administration officially launched, but the "Air Express" was also released simultaneously. According to reports, "Air Express" provides point-to-point helicopter services, allowing the public to enjoy the fun of travelling by air anytime, anywhere. The platform provides air travel services between Suzhou's core areas and the city, and covers more than 10 take-off and landing points in the city, which also marks that "Air Express" will become an important part of Suzhou's transport system.

The CHALPA awarded Suzhou Helicopter Pilot Skills Competition Base a bronze medal.


The competition adopted an approach of promoting teaching, learning and training through competition, covering both theoretical knowledge and practical operation. Through theoretical exams and simulator-based practical assessments, it thoroughly evaluated flying techniques, emergency response capabilities, and instrument flying proficiency. The competition not only significantly improved the technical skills of helicopter pilots but also effectively strengthened their safety awareness and adherence to regulations, fully showcasing their professional demeanor.

More than 30 pilots from 14 aviation companies, including Nanjing RuoHang and Qingdao Helicopter Aviation, participated in the competition. The contestants competed in a number of events, mainly focusing on aviation theory, helicopter structure, and aircraft maintenance and overhaul.

Comprehensively build an interactive platform to help the high-quality development of the aviation industry in East China and ignite a new engine of low-altitude economic development.
